Jakarta (ANTARA) - People’s movements continue to increase alongside increasingly dense daily activities. Many people travel for work, trade, school, or other purposes. In this condition, trains become a choice because of their clear travel times, comfort, and connectivity to many areas.

On the Central Java line, Gundih Station has become one of the important points whose benefits are directly felt by the community. In the first quarter of 2026, 10,530 passengers boarded and 11,161 alighted at this station. This number rose 10.05% compared to the same period in 2025. This increase shows that more residents are using trains for their activities.

This situation aligns with the characteristics of the community in Grobogan Regency. Based on 2024 data from the Grobogan Regency Central Statistics Agency as the latest release, the population reaches more than 1.4 million souls, with a dominance of productive ages. The majority work in the agricultural, trade, and services sectors. These activities require easy transportation facilities so that work and businesses run smoothly.

In this context, Gundih Station plays an important role. Its location is on the line connecting Semarang, Solo, and Surabaya. For a long time, this station has been a meeting point for journeys. Now, its function is increasingly felt through the KA Banyubiru service.

KA Banyubiru serves the Semarang Tawang – Solo Balapan route with a fare of Rp40,000. The travel time is around two hours. This service provides an affordable and reliable travel option for people wanting to travel between cities.

With this service, Grobogan residents can go to Semarang or Solo for work, study, or medical treatment more easily. Conversely, people from the cities can also come to the Gundih area to enjoy Kedung Ombo Reservoir, Geyer teak forest, and local culinary delights.

Easier travel makes economic activities move as well. Business opportunities open up, and the community has more choices for activities. Clear travel times also help people manage their daily activities.

PT Kereta Api Indonesia’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, said that train services continue to be developed to reach more people.

“KA Banyubiru helps the community make short- and medium-distance journeys more easily. This keeps many areas connected and allows community activities to run smoothly,” said Anne.

On the other hand, Gundih Station still maintains its historical value. The old wooden teak building is still well-maintained. The atmosphere around the station, surrounded by forest, provides a calm and enjoyable travel experience.

“The presence of trains at Gundih Station shows that journeys have a broad impact on the community. Access to jobs becomes more open, business opportunities develop, and inter-regional relations feel close,” Anne concluded.
