JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A minimarket on Jalan Taman Malaka in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, was robbed on Friday (22/5/2026) at around 22:13 WIB. Two robbers forced staff to reveal the location of the safe. One of the minimarket employees, Novita Anggraini, said the store had already closed at the time of the incident, but the door was shut but not locked. After entering, the two suspects threatened her and a colleague with a firearm and a machete. ‘There was someone threatening with a machete. Then, we were escorted to the safe. “Go to the safe, everyone,”’ Novita said. After emptying the safe, the suspects locked Novita and her colleague in the storage room. They only managed to escape after breaking down the door. ‘More than Rp20 million. When we broke the door, the two suspects were already gone,’ she said. CCTV footage showed the suspects forcibly entering when the rolling door was already closed. One suspect pointed a firearm at a cashier and ordered them to squat, while the other brandished a machete to threaten the victims. The incident has been reported to Duren Sawit Police Station, East Jakarta.
