“We are intensifying the dissemination of fire hazard information and early handling education to the public,” said Budi Haryono, Head of the North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Fire and Rescue Sub-Department, in Jakarta on Friday.

He hopes that the public remains vigilant to anticipate potential fire incidents, especially during this holiday season.

He advised residents who are travelling for Eid to ensure that stoves, lights, and electrical currents are properly managed to avoid triggering fires.

His agency recorded 15 fire incidents in the City of North Jakarta and Thousand Islands during the month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.

According to him, this number is down by around 40 percent compared to last Ramadan’s 25 incidents.

He said that of the 15 fires, seven affected residential buildings.

Then, there were two incidents each involving external building electrical installations (ILLG), public buildings, and warehouses.

“Furthermore, there was one fire each in industrial buildings, vehicles, and stalls,” he said.

Based on location, the highest number of fire incidents occurred in Pademangan sub-district with four cases. This was followed by Penjaringan sub-district with three fire incidents.

Then, there were two fire incidents each in Tanjung Priok and Cilincing sub-districts.

Subsequently, one incident each in Koja, Kelapa Gading sub-districts, and South Thousand Islands.

“The decrease in fire cases is due to the continuously increasing level of public awareness,” he said.
