Guideline on holiday bonus
Guideline on holiday bonus
JAKARTA: Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Jacob Nuwa
Wea has issued a guideline on the disbursement of Idul Fitri
bonuses, suggesting that bonuses be given seven days before the
holiday, at the latest, a report said.
"Idul Fitri bonuses should be given seven days before Dec. 16,
2001 at the latest, or on Dec. 9," Nuwa Wea said.
Minister of Manpower Decree No. 4/1994 regulates that a
religious holiday bonus must be the equivalent of at least one
month's salary.
"Meanwhile, opulent companies are expected to give packages of
basic commodities and/or provide transportation for their workers
and their workers' families to return to their hometowns," the
minister said.
The minister said that early distribution of holiday bonuses
would help workers a lot in their preparation for Idul Fitri.
He called on governors, regents and mayors nationwide to
persuade companies operating within their jurisdiction to pay
bonuses on time.
"There should be actions taken against companies that do not
pay holiday bonuses as stipulated in the laws and regulations,"
he said. --Antara
