Guide to Using the Bawen-Ambarawa Functional Toll Road, Note the Schedule

SEMARANG - The Bawen-Ambarawa functional toll road will become one of the alternatives that holiday travellers can use to avoid congestion on the main routes in Central Java during Eid 2026. This section is part of the Yogya-Bawen Toll Road Section 6, spanning 4 kilometres, which is being made functional to support the smooth flow of outbound and return travel. During the functional operational period, drivers can pass through without being charged a toll fee. Although free, there are rules that must be followed, one of which is the maximum speed limit. For information, this opened section has construction progress that is nearly complete. The road surface has been fully finished, while complementary works are being rushed to be completed soon. Although still in functional status, the safety aspects are said to already meet standards for vehicles to pass through. During the outbound travel period, namely 13 to 22 March 2026, vehicles can only pass from Bawen to Ambarawa. Meanwhile, during the return flow, 23 to 30 March 2026, the direction will be reversed from Ambarawa to Bawen. In addition to time and direction rules, holiday travellers also need to be aware of potential congestion around toll access, especially at two crucial points, namely Simpang Bawen and Simpang Ambarawa. If congestion occurs at Simpang Bawen, vehicles will be directed to exit through Ambarawa Exit to disperse the queues. Coordination with the police is continuously carried out to ensure traffic flow remains controlled during the outbound and return periods. “Vehicles must also be in roadworthy condition.
