Guess What? Wimar Witoelar

Well-known television talk show host, Wimar Witoelar is unhappy with the performance of his 50 businesses.

Last week, he proclaimed himself "King of Bankruptcy" during a seminar in Yogyakarta because all of his businesses are losing money and teetering at the brink of bankruptcy.

"All are ending up in bankruptcy," Wimar said.

The number of crumbling businesses, he said amid the seminar participants' thunderous laughter, is a record high and he deserves the title.

Wimar, known for his critical views of the government, said he is ready to help with information for anyone who is doing research on bankruptcy.

"Now I know everything about it (bankruptcy)," he claimed, jokingly.

Wimar was in Yogyakarta to moderate a seminar on rescuing the Indonesian economy. It featured four economic experts from Gadjah Mada University.

A participant attacked him, saying that talks alone would not salvage the Indonesian economic fiasco because what the country needed was action.

Trying to look unoffended, Wimar said that talking was his expertise and with which he made a living.

"Whenever I try to a start business in the real sector, no one comes to cooperate. But when I'm talking, many people will come and listen to me. Do you think I have chosen the wrong profession?" he said. (swa)
