Guess What? KLa Project

When you are at the top and fall, it really hurts. Which happened to the popular group KLa Project when their seventh album, Sintesa (Synthesis), received a cold response from fans.

"We're very sad because only a few people bought Sintesa," the group's lead singer Katon Bagaskara said prior to a show at Fashion Cafe.

Despite the flop of the 1998 album, the group did not give up on the creative process. The group's three members, including Lilo and Adi, looked back at all of their previous work to find the sound which suited them best.

The group -- known for poetic lyrics and easy to listen to tunes, such as their hits Yogyakarta and Tak Bisa ke Lain Hati (Can't Change My Heart) -- is popular among teenagers. But in Sintesa, the group experimented with sounds which were unfamiliar to their fans.

"We're very disappointed," Katon, the husband of actress Ira Wibowo, said.

But now KLa can smile again because it took them little time to lure their fans back with their two latest albums, Dekade (Decade) and KLaSIK (Classic). (Sri Ramadani)
