Can a fair and charming Cinderella become an effective public
relations officer?

Yes. Former child star Ira Maya Sopha, known for her role as
Cinderella in Shangrila's operetta in the l970s, has been Public
Relations Manager of the Jakarta Hilton Convention Center since
l994.

"As a public figure I have a special place in society. But
people often ask me how I got my present job," Ira said.

Ira, who sang duets with Adi Bing Slamet when they where both
kids, commented that every company has the right to hire a public
figure.

"Public relations is the face of the company, the impression
of the company. A public figure should also have an adequate
educational background in this field otherwise he or she may fail
to achieve the company's target," stressed Ira, who appeared
mature in her three-piece business outfit.

Asked whether she had left her past world as a singer and
movie star, Ira answered, "I am now preparing to release a new
album. Hopefully, it will be a successful comeback."

Local fans shouldn't expect Ira Maya Sopha to have a ponytail
or wear the short, colorful ruffled costume she appeared in on
her best-selling album Bukit Berbunga in the late l970s. (27/raw)
