Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has explained the reasons behind President Prabowo Subianto’s instruction not to raise the prices of subsidised fuel. According to him, this decision was taken to avoid burdening the public. In this way, the momentum of economic growth will remain maintained. “The Ministry of Finance has anticipated movements in global oil prices. The Finance Minister is confident that the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) remains secure and will be able to cushion fluctuations in global energy prices,” Purbaya stated in his official remarks, quoted on Tuesday (7/4/2026). As is known, the government has affirmed that, per the President’s instructions, there will be no increase in the prices of subsidised fuel oil (BBM) until the end of 2026. Therefore, Purbaya urged the public to remain calm and not to worry excessively about global energy price fluctuations as a result of the war between Iran, the United States, and Israel. “We still have layered defences, so friends don’t need to be afraid, the public doesn’t need to be afraid, because I am still ensuring that the funds are there,” he said.
