Lombok Tengah - The Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) states that the GT World Challenge Asia motor racing event at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit on 1-3 May 2026 is aimed at strengthening investments in Lombok and Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). “The GT World Challenge Asia drivers are entrepreneurs from all professions,” said MGPA CEO Priandi Satria in Mataram on Tuesday. He explained that participants come from various professional backgrounds, including entrepreneurs in industry, property and hospitality, maritime shipping, aviation, and other sectors. “They race for enjoyment, so this event presents an opportunity for Indonesia, particularly NTB, to open up investment prospects,” he added. According to him, the drivers do not come alone but bring their families, crews, and teams, which can increase tourist visits and stimulate the local economy. “The regional economic turnover could rise. Last year, one driver invested in Mandalika,” he noted. Furthermore, he stated that the event’s presence in Mandalika not only brings world-class competition but also opens significant opportunities for Indonesian drivers to perform and develop at the international level. He said the organisation of this event at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit is expected to further strengthen Indonesia’s position in the international racing calendar while promoting the growth of the national motorsport ecosystem. “We invite all motorsport enthusiasts in Indonesia to come directly to Mandalika and experience the world-class racing atmosphere. This is a rare opportunity to see Asia’s top drivers, including Indonesian representatives, competing on home soil,” he concluded.
