GT to make Pirelli tires

JAKARTA (JP): PT Gajah Tunggal (GT), the publicly listed tire
producer, announced yesterday that it had signed an agreement
with Pirelli Tire's North American subsidiary to manufacture
Pirelli car radial tires.

Under the agreement, signed Monday, Gajah Tunggal would
initially supply 500,000 tires per year, which would be sold by
Pirelli in the United States and Canada.

The two companies are exploring further areas of cooperation,
said Gajah Tunggal's notice. (hen)
