GSN Tanjung Perak Ensures Service Readiness to Welcome Homecoming Travellers
Surabaya — The management of Gapura Surya Nusantara (GSN) Passenger Terminal at Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya, East Java, is finalising its service readiness to welcome the surge in homecoming travellers during the inbound and return migration periods of the 2026 Lebaran transport season.
“We continue to implement various facility improvements and coordinate with all port stakeholders to ensure optimal passenger services during the Lebaran transport period,” said Ana Adilya, Branch Manager of Kalimas GSN Passenger Terminal, in Surabaya on Thursday.
She explained that the service capacity enhancement is being carried out through the addition of temporary waiting areas, equipped with additional seating for passengers. In addition, supplementary tents are being provided as waiting areas to anticipate the surge in passenger numbers during the peak inbound migration period.
GSN is also preparing special priority spaces for elderly passengers, mothers with young children, and persons with disabilities, including expanding the children’s play area, which is now available at three locations within the terminal.
“We are also providing digital information screens that display real-time updates on ship berthing schedules, making it easier for passengers to obtain travel information,” she said.
Furthermore, the GSN terminal is setting up a 2026 Lebaran Homecoming Post, which will serve as a coordination centre for services and information for passengers, involving various stakeholders within the port environment.
Beyond facility improvements, the terminal is also reinforcing safety aspects by conducting regular inspections of safety equipment such as portable fire extinguishers, hydrants, and other safety facilities. Security of the terminal area is being tightened through sterilisation of unauthorised persons to ensure passenger service activities run in an orderly and secure manner.
To improve service quality, porters at the terminal are also being provided with uniforms and identity cards so that passengers can easily identify official staff assisting with baggage handling.
“Our hope is that the public can undertake their homecoming journey safely, comfortably, and smoothly through the Gapura Surya Nusantara Terminal,” she said.
