Gruesome toddler death in Bekasi rental property suspected to have been murdered by his uncle

BEKASI, KOMPAS.com — A two-year-old boy identified as MAJ was found dead in a rental property at Omah Seruni 99, RT 02/RW 10, Jatirangga Village, Jatisampurna subdistrict, Bekasi City, on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, around 10 PM. The victim lived with his grandmother, identified as M (60), his uncle SG (18), and one of his aunts. RT 02 head Taufik Hidayat (43) said the grandmother discovered the body upon returning from selling cakes. ‘She only found out when she returned at 10 PM. The body was lying in a pool of blood in the living room of the rental property,’ Taufik said when approached at the scene on Thursday, 28 May. Residents reported hearing cries and screams from inside the rental property after the bodies were discovered. ‘We heard shouts and crying from the victim’s aunt. We rushed over and saw the scene. The toddler had a stab wound, with his intestines protruding,’ Taufik added. SG was found with cuts on his face and neck. ‘Both were wounded,’ he said. Taufik stated that the victim was usually left alone with SG when the grandmother was working. ‘The grandmother leaves in the afternoon and returns at 9 or 10 PM,’ he said. ‘The suspected perpetrator is the uncle, as they were alone when the grandmother was selling. The door was locked from inside,’ Rudianto added. He further explained that SG has a mental disability and rarely interacts with neighbours. ‘He rarely socialises. When addressed, he sometimes responds, sometimes not. He isolates himself due to special needs,’ he said.
