Growth Partner and Docquity Launch Medically Assisted Umrah Programme with Technological Support
Growth Partner and Docquity today announced the launch of the world’s first Umrah programme that is medically accompanied and technologically supported, in partnership with a range of ecosystem initiatives backed by the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA).
The programme addresses one of the biggest barriers in religious travel: enabling pilgrims with chronic illnesses, post-operative needs, or physical disabilities to undertake the Umrah pilgrimage safely.
Serving Indonesia, one of the world’s largest source markets for Umrah pilgrims, the programme brings doctors and professional nurses to each pilgrim group, from pre-departure health screening to on-site supervision during the rites in Makkah and Madinah, and a safe return home. A successful pilot with Indonesian pilgrims has demonstrated safety, logistical readiness and the quality of the spiritual experience of this model.
Redefining who can perform Umrah
The programme is designed for pilgrims who were previously often advised not to travel, including those living with Type 2 Diabetes, hypertension, or heart disease; patients in post-operative recovery; wheelchair users; elderly travellers without family accompaniment; cancer survivors in remission; and women travelling without a male guardian.
Rather than health conditions being a barrier, the programme builds comprehensive medical infrastructure along the pilgrimage journey.

Sustained Medical Support: Licensed and trained doctors and healthcare professionals will accompany each curated group throughout the journey, from departure to completion of the rites and safe return.
AI-based Health Monitoring: Docquity’s AI platform also equips the accompanying medical team with real-time clinical intelligence, enabling proactive interventions and personalised care protocols along the journey.
Personalised Service Packages: Travel itineraries tailored to the physical condition and medical needs of each pilgrim.
Tested Through a Pilot Programme: The programme has been piloted with a limited group of Indonesian pilgrims, with professional doctors providing ongoing medical supervision.

Developed in line with Saudi Arabia’s aims to enhance the pilgrim experience and services, and supported by involvement of ecosystem stakeholders including the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA), the programme aims to improve accessibility, safety and quality of service for pilgrims needing medical support during Umrah travel.
