Jakarta, VIVA – Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa reported that the state budget (APBN) as at the end of January 2026 recorded a deficit of Rp 54.6 trillion, equivalent to 0.21 per cent of national Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

He delivered the figures at the APBN KITA press conference for the February 2026 edition, held at the Ministry of Finance in Jakarta.

“The APBN deficit was recorded at Rp 54.6 trillion, or just 0.21 per cent of GDP. This figure remains well controlled and within the design corridor of the 2026 APBN,” said Purbaya on Monday, 23 February 2026.

He detailed that state revenue as at 31 January 2026 reached Rp 172.7 trillion, approximately 5.5 per cent of the APBN target, growing 9.5 per cent year-on-year.

He acknowledged that this achievement was underpinned by robust tax receipts, as well as non-tax state revenue (PNBP) which has begun to show recovery outside of last year’s non-recurring components.

On the expenditure side, Purbaya reported that realisation reached Rp 227.3 trillion, or 5.9 per cent of the APBN ceiling, growing 25.7 per cent year-on-year.

The driver was the government’s accelerated spending measures from the start of the year, aimed at supporting priority programmes, maintaining purchasing power, and boosting economic growth in the first quarter of 2026.

“Tax growth in January was 30.7 per cent compared to last year. This means there has been some improvement from greater efficiency in tax collection. I hope this will continue going forward,” said Purbaya.

Furthermore, Purbaya reported that the continuing primary deficit was recorded at Rp 4.2 trillion, which he said indicated a fiscal position that remains prudently manageable. Additionally, he noted that financing realisation reached Rp 105.1 trillion, or approximately 15.2 per cent of the target.

“With positive revenue growth, accelerated expenditure, and a controlled deficit, we are optimistic that the APBN will continue to maintain stability whilst supporting the momentum of national economic growth throughout 2026,” he said.
