REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIREBON – A potential ‘sarong war’ – a mock battle using sarongs – nearly broke out in Panggangsari village, Losari sub-district, Cirebon regency. Police officers, along with parents and religious leaders, intervened to resolve the situation. A video of the incident, which occurred on Sunday (22 February 2026) at around 02:00 WIB, went viral on social media. The incident took place on the Panggangsari to Tuksari road and involved approximately six teenagers who arrived riding motorcycles.

However, residents managed to prevent the ‘sarong war’ from happening. Two of the teenagers were even apprehended by residents in the Bawang Market area at around 02:30 WIB, while the others managed to escape.

The circulating video shows the atmosphere of a residential alley at night. A teenager wearing a light blue t-shirt with the word “Nope” on it is seen looking down as he is held by residents.

Several adult men are seen standing guard. The sound of a train horn can also be heard, indicating that the location is likely near a railway crossing.

The Cirebon Police Department, through the Losari Police Station, acted quickly after the 15-second video circulated. The police invited representatives from the Education Unit, parents, religious leaders, and village officials to the Losari Police Station. Three teenagers suspected of being involved were brought in and asked to sign a statement promising not to repeat their actions.
