Groundbreaking of Dukuh Atas Bridge to Integrate Six Transport Services

Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung has conducted the groundbreaking for a pedestrian facility, commonly referred to as the Donut Bridge, in Dukuh Atas, Central Jakarta. The facility will integrate six transport modes in the area. He explained that his administration will connect modes such as the KRL Commuter Line, Airport Train, TransJakarta, LRT Jabodebek, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta, which will be extended to Dukuh Atas. This means the public will no longer face difficulties when switching between modes in the area. “This pedestrian deck, with six connected modes, will provide seamless mobility. That means people will no longer be exposed to the heat or rain, and so on,” he said at the Dukuh Atas site on Sunday (21/6). He explained that the construction of the Donut Bridge will be carried out using funds from PT MRT Jakarta. However, he has not yet disclosed the amount of funds used for the facility’s construction. Pramono hopes the construction can be completed in time for Jakarta’s 500th anniversary next year. However, this aspiration is unlikely to be achieved, considering PT MRT Jakarta is targeting completion only by 2028. He believes the presence of the Donut Bridge will greatly facilitate public access to public transport in the area. Another impact, according to him, is that the pedestrian deck will also help alleviate traffic congestion in the area. “It can certainly be guaranteed to reduce congestion. Because why? As we know, almost every afternoon or when it’s drizzling or raining, every morning, many people get off at the side of the road. This then disrupts traffic flow in the area. Once this is built, people will no longer go down to the street level; they will definitely use the elevated walkway because that’s the way to the MRT, airport train, and LRT that come here,” he said.
