Groundbreaking of Downstreaming Phase II, Bambang Patijaya: Strengthen Indonesia's Competitiveness on the Global Stage
Jakarta, VIVA – The Chairman of DPR RI Commission XII from the Golkar Party faction, Bambang Patijaya, has expressed appreciation for the groundbreaking of 13 Phase II downstreaming projects organised by BPI Danantara Indonesia as a concrete step in accelerating the national economy’s transformation based on added value.
According to Bambang, the start of construction on these downstreaming projects serves as a strong signal that the national industrialisation agenda is progressing in a more progressive and structured direction.
“We appreciate this groundbreaking as a tangible manifestation of the government’s commitment to promoting national industrial downstreaming,” he stated in a written remark on Wednesday, 29 April 2026.
He assessed that downstreaming is a key strategy for increasing the added value of natural resources, while also strengthening the domestic industrial structure to no longer rely on raw material exports.
“This is an important moment to strengthen Indonesia’s industrial competitiveness on the global stage,” he continued.
Bambang also emphasised that the success of downstreaming will have broad impacts on the national economy, from increased investment and job creation to strengthened state revenues. Therefore, he encouraged the implementation of these projects to proceed on schedule and deliver optimal benefits.
Furthermore, DPR RI Commission XII fully supports strengthening synergies between the government, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector in building a sustainable downstreaming ecosystem.
“Cross-sector synergies are the key to ensuring that downstreaming not only progresses quickly but is also sustainable and delivers maximum added value,” he asserted.
In the long-term context, Bambang reminded of the importance of ensuring that downstreaming development also considers environmental sustainability and energy efficiency aspects. This aligns with the national policy direction in promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
“We in DPR RI Commission XII will continue to oversee this downstreaming agenda to ensure it runs effectively, measurably, and contributes substantially to national economic resilience,” he concluded.
