Floods have once again struck Grobogan Regency in Central Java on Friday (3/4). Due to overflows from several rivers following heavy rain, 12 villages in four sub-districts were inundated. Not only residential areas, but the Grobogan floods also submerged the railway line, causing disruptions to train operations.

Based on monitoring since early Friday, the floods submerged the downstream line between Karangjati Station and Gubug Station, specifically at KM 32+7/8. The water level on the tracks reached 25 centimetres, forcing PT KAI to implement operational adjustments for passenger safety.

The Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 4 Semarang, Luqman Arif, confirmed that the downstream line was temporarily declared unsafe to pass. Since 01:40 WIB, KAI has enforced alternating single-track usage.

“Up to 05:00 WIB, eight train trips were disrupted with delays of around 10-15 minutes due to queuing to pass. We apologise for this inconvenience,” said Luqman Arif.

KAI continues to conduct intensive monitoring and coordination with various parties to ensure the line returns to normal as quickly as possible.

In addition to the rail transport sector, the floods have paralysed residents’ activities. The operator of the Grobogan BPBD Operational Control Centre, Muhaimin, stated that heavy rain on Thursday (2/4) afternoon to evening triggered river overflows starting at 20:00 WIB.

“Up to this morning, the floods have inundated 12 villages in 4 sub-districts with water levels between 20 and 50 centimetres. So far, there have been no major evacuation waves like previous floods,” explained Muhaimin.

A resident of Gubug, Suharno, recounted the panic among residents when water began entering homes at night. “Water entered homes up to 20-30 centimetres, residents panicked because it came quite quickly,” he said.

In addition to submerging homes, the Semarang-Purwodadi main road was also reported to be flooded, causing significant traffic disruptions for motor vehicles. BPBD personnel and related agencies are still on standby at the location to anticipate possible increases in water discharge if rain falls again.

As many as 1,842 hectares of farmland in Grobogan Regency were flooded due to extreme weather on Monday (16/2/2026). This data is still preliminary.
