Former General Chairman of Muhammadiyah, Prof M Din Syamsuddin, revealed that one of the TNI soldiers who fell in the conflict in the Middle East region was a Muhammadiyah cadre. Syamsuddin shared this during a meeting with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, in South Jakarta on Friday (3/4/2026).

The Chairman of the Center for Dialogue and Cooperation among Civilizations (CDCC) stated that the soldier was Praka Farizal Romadhon, from Kulon Progo, Special Region of Yogyakarta. “Coincidentally, one of the first to pass away, Rhomadhon, is a Muhammadiyah cadre from Kulon Progo,” said Syamsuddin.

On that occasion, Syamsuddin also expressed deep condolences for the deaths of several Iranian figures and civilians in Iran’s war against the United States and Israel. He even referred to the fallen victims as martyrs who died in the struggle to uphold truth, justice, and independence.

“I offer the deepest condolences for the martyrdom of both Iran’s spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several other figures, as well as the soldiers and innocent people, with the highest appreciation for their struggle in defending truth, justice, and independence,” said Syamsuddin.

He also appreciated the solidarity and expressions of condolences conveyed by the Iranian side to Muslims, including those from Indonesia.

Praka Farizal Romadhon fell due to artillery fire near the position of the Indonesian UNIFIL contingent located close to Adchit Al Qusayr, southern Lebanon, on Sunday (29/3/2026). Meanwhile, three other personnel, namely Praka Rico Pramudia, Praka Bayu Prakoso, and Praka Arif Kurniawan, were injured.

In that meeting, Din Syamsuddin also conveyed greetings from the Caretaker of the Modern Darussalam Gontor Islamic Boarding School, KH Hasan Abdullah Sahal. The message emphasised that the suffering of the Palestinian and Iranian people is the suffering of the entire Muslim ummah.

“The tears and blood of the Palestinian and Iranian people are the tears and blood of the entire Muslim ummah,” read the message conveyed.
