Gridlock Spreads to Gatot Subroto as Tendean Footbridge Demolition Continues
Traffic congestion has spread to Jalan Gatot Subroto heading towards Kuningan in South Jakarta as a result of the ongoing demolition of a pedestrian bridge on Jalan Kapten Tendean. Observations on Tuesday (14/7/2026) showed the westbound carriageway of Jalan Gatot Subroto heavily congested with vehicles, particularly at the intersection with Jalan Kapten Tendean. Motorcycles and cars were only able to move at speeds below 20 kilometres per hour, with traffic in the right lane moving even slower. The tailback extended to Jalan MT Haryono in the direction of Pancoran, whilst the opposite direction towards Halim was observed to be flowing smoothly.
Near the intersection, TransJakarta bus services on Corridor 13 were also experiencing delays. The operator announced via its official social media account that Route 13B was suffering from late arrivals due to traffic density caused by the demolition work. Furthermore, TransJakarta reported route diversions, with the Corridor 13 service from Tegal Mampang to Ciledug temporarily shortened to operate only between Rawa Barat and Ciledug. Routes 13B and L13E were also temporarily diverted, and buses heading towards Puri Beta were not serving the Tegal Mampang shelter.
The demolition of the footbridge, which was struck by a truck, continued to impact the evening rush hour. Traffic monitoring applications at 17:15 WIB showed severe congestion, marked in red, from the Kuningan intersection to the Semanggi Interchange. Gridlock was also reported at several other points, including Jalan Rasuna Said, Jalan Pasar Minggu, the SCBD area, and Jalan Jenderal Sudirman. Kabag Binopsnal Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya, Kompol Robby Hefados, stated that traffic management was being implemented on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin from north to south, and that congestion at the SCBD exit towards Jalan Suryo was a direct consequence of the ongoing evacuation and repair process.
