GRIB Leader Hercules Challenges Minister Ara: Prove This Land Belongs to the State!
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The General Chairman of the United Indonesian People’s Movement (GRIB) Jaya, Rosario de Marshall alias Hercules, has challenged the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, and the President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), Boby Rasyidin, to prove that the land in Kebon Kacang Ward, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta, belongs to PT KAI.
Hercules made the statement in response to the ongoing viral controversy over the land’s ownership.
Hercules emphasised that the vacant plot, measuring 34,690 square metres, does not belong to PT KAI but to the heirs named Sulaeman Effendi.
According to him, GRIB Jaya, along with its legal team, has received power of attorney from Sulaeman Effendi to advocate for ownership rights over the land.
“If this property truly belongs to the state, bring the evidence and show it here. We’ll cross-check everything to ensure it’s accurate – from where the usage rights come from, the origins of the HPL, and its entire history,” said Hercules in Tanah Abang on Friday (10/4/2026).
He also opened the possibility of dialogue with Minister Ara and KAI representatives, particularly if the land is to be used for public housing development.
“But we are still open to discussion: if this is a state programme, a government programme, or the President’s programme, let’s talk it out properly,” he stated.
He explained that the land in the Tanah Abang demolition area had previously been leased to private parties and used for PT AB’s business operations.
After the HPL expired in 2017, he said, the land was returned to its original owner, Sulaeman Effendi.
Currently, the land is leased by private parties for vehicle parking.
To this day, Hercules continued, the land remains physically controlled by Sulaeman as the heir.
Referring to the HPL and the ownership history, he asserted that the vacant plot in the Tanah Abang demolition area does not belong to the state.
He also refuted claims that the land is controlled by GRIB Jaya.
