GRIB Jaya Speaks Out on Headquarters Fire in Kedoya, West Jakarta
The central executive board (DPP) of GRIB Jaya has spoken out regarding the fire incident that occurred at their office located on Jalan Manunggal V, South Kedoya, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, in the early hours of Monday (31/8).
Wilson Colling of the DPP GRIB Jaya Legal Division stated that, based on inspection and identification at the scene, the fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit.
“Based on inspection and identification at the scene of the incident, the source of the fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit originating from a mobile phone charger that had been placed on top of a refrigerator,” Wilson said in his statement on Monday.
Wilson said that sparks from the short circuit ignited curtains and wall wallpaper. The fire then spread to the sofa area and extended to the ceiling of the room.
Wilson added that the fire was handled swiftly, thanks to the alertness of firefighters, preventing the flames from spreading to other rooms or surrounding buildings.
Wilson also confirmed that there were no fatalities or injuries in the fire incident.
“We can confirm that there were no fatalities or injuries in this incident at the post/office. The handling was completed at 03.28 WIB and the situation is now fully conducive and has been given a green status,” he said.
Previously, a fire struck a building serving as a post for the mass organisation GRIB on Jalan Manunggal V in Kedoya, West Jakarta, in the early hours of Monday (31/8). Information about the fire was reported to the fire department at around 02.49 WIB.
“The object is a mass organisation post (GRIB),” said Syaiful Kahfi, Head of Operations at the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-department, when confirmed.
Syaiful said that eight fire engines and 40 personnel were deployed to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
Syaiful explained that the firefighting operation began at 02.57 WIB. The fire was successfully contained at 03.06 WIB and the extinguishing process was declared complete at 03.28 WIB.
