GRIB Jaya Members Raid House Searching for Author Ahmad Bahar

Members of the GRIB Jaya mass organisation raided the residence of book author Ahmad Bahar in Cimanggis, Depok, West Java, on Sunday (17/5/2026). A group of about a dozen members searched the premises for Ahmad Bahar’s whereabouts.

Ahmad Bahar’s wife, Yenni Nur, stated that only three of their children were at home at the time. Although they failed to find Ahmad, the group refused to disperse. “They were looking for Mr Ahmad, and then my child was taken as a hostage to ensure Mr Ahmad would appear. They demanded that I come first before my child could be returned; it happened on my child’s birthday, which was very distressing,” Yenni said via telephone on Monday (18/5/2026).

Her daughter was reportedly forced to accompany the group to the GRIB Jaya headquarters to compel Ahmad Bahar to meet the General Chairman of GRIB Jaya, Rosario de Marshall, also known as Hercules. At the time of the raid, Yenni was out of town, while her husband was travelling to deliver a book to the General Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN), Zulkifli Hasan.

The local neighbourhood head (RW) accompanied the daughter during the group’s departure to ensure her safety. According to Yenni, the raid was triggered by the hacking of her daughter’s mobile phone number last week. The perpetrator allegedly used the daughter’s number to send threatening messages to Hercules.

Representatives from Hercules’ side had previously visited the house to seek clarification. Although the family provided evidence that the phone had been hacked, the explanation was reportedly ignored. “Two people from their side came to clarify. They still insisted, ‘You are the one who did it.’ We didn’t know how else to prove it, as we have evidence of the hack. My daughter is a young woman; she would not be involved in such matters,” Yenni added.
