Gresik Special Economic Zone Attracts Rp113.4 Trillion Investment Through Q1 2026
The government has recorded that the Gresik Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has absorbed a cumulative investment of Rp113.4 trillion up to the first quarter of 2026. Of this total, investments flowing in after the SEZ status was established reached Rp108.2 trillion. In terms of employment, the Gresik SEZ has absorbed 45,860 workers, with more than 44,000 jobs created after the area was designated as an SEZ.
Susiwijono Moegiarso, Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and Secretary of the National SEZ Council, stated in a written statement received in Jakarta on Sunday, that since its establishment through Government Regulation Number 71 of 2021, the Gresik SEZ has rapidly developed into one of the new economic growth centres in East Java.
“Looking at the performance and positive impact produced, the expansion of the Gresik SEZ is a strategic step to accommodate high investment interest, strengthen the integrated industrial and port ecosystem, and encourage the development of green energy to enhance the region’s long-term competitiveness,” he said.
To support the development of the area, the government continues to oversee the expansion plans for the Gresik SEZ. These efforts were discussed during the Coordination Meeting for the Approval of Spatial Utilisation Activity Suitability (PKKPR) for the Gresik SEZ expansion plan, held at the Gresik SEZ BUPP Office (JIIPE), Gresik, on Friday (12/6).
Susiwijono emphasised that the government fully supports the expansion plans for the Gresik SEZ in line with high investment interest and the need for regional development.
“The government fully supports the expansion of the Gresik SEZ, so that existing investment opportunities and potential can be immediately realised and converted into economic activity and employment,” he said.
According to him, the plan to expand the area further reinforces the role of the SEZ as a strategic instrument to drive investment, industrialisation, and job creation.
The high demand for regional development also reflects investor confidence in the Gresik SEZ as one of the leading integrated industrial zones in Indonesia.
“The government will continue to strengthen its role as an investment facilitator through policy synchronisation and coordination across ministries/agencies, local governments, and zone managers. This step is taken to ensure that all aspects of planning, spatial planning, and licensing can proceed in alignment, so that the expansion process of the Gresik SEZ can be realised optimally and provide broader economic benefits to the community,” he added.
