A pre-dawn meal (sahur) delivery activity in Panceng District, Gresik, East Java, turned into a youth clash between neighbouring villages, resulting in two residents being stabbed. Dozens of people angered by the incident subsequently burned down the house of the suspected perpetrator.

According to detikJatim, the stabbing incident occurred on Friday, 27 August. The following day, residents conducted sweeps in search of the perpetrator.

Unable to locate the attacker, dozens of residents vented their frustration by burning down a house believed to belong to the stabbing suspect, located in Tlogosadang Village, Paciran District.

The group arrived in organised clusters, riding motorcycles. Upon arrival, they immediately dismounted and destroyed parts of the building, smashing various household furnishings inside.

Ipda M. Hamzaid, public relations officer of Lamongan Police, confirmed the house burning. As of now, the burned house remains guarded by several officers from Paciran Police Station and Lamongan Police.

“That’s correct, there was a report of the incident last night and our officers from Paciran Police Station immediately responded to the location alongside residents, assisting with extinguishing the fire and subsequently conducting a crime scene examination as part of the investigation process,” said M. Hamzaid.

According to Hamzaid, the house was empty at the time of the fire. Nevertheless, vehicles—both cars and motorcycles—and household furnishings were completely destroyed. Police tape has now been placed around the house.
