The Gresik Regency Government has officially implemented a work from home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) every Wednesday. This policy takes effect from 1 April 2026, tomorrow.

According to detikJatim on Tuesday (31 March 2026), the Head of BKPSDM Gresik, Agung Endro Utomo, explained that the policy is applied as an effort to save energy. However, nine regional device organisations (OPD) are still required to report to the office because they are directly related to public services.

Agung Endro Utomo explained that the OPDs that must work from the office include departments that directly interact with the public. These include the Transportation Department, Education Department, Social Department, Health Department along with hospitals and community health centres, Satpol PP, Fire Department, BPBD, Kesbangpol, and the Public Service Mall (MPP).

“In those nine OPDs, WFH is not possible; at most, one or two employees. For those nine OPDs specifically, if an employee wants to WFH, they must get permission from us,” he said.

For OPDs outside that list, ASN are allowed to work fully from home. Nevertheless, supervision will still be carried out by each head of OPD.

“So there is a role for the department heads to support this energy efficiency programme. In the afternoon or at any time, department heads need to conduct independent roll calls to monitor their employees to ensure they remain at home,” he clarified.
