Grenades found in Malang ditch

MALANG, Central Java: Ten grenades were found in several
plastic bags in a sewer on Jl. Tanimber here on Wednesday
morning.

The grenades were found by residents cleaning the sewer.

According to Antara, Malang deputy police chief Lt. Col. Iwan
Siregar confirmed the find, but stressed that there was nothing
to be worried about.

He brushed off concerns, saying that such finds were normal in
the Malang area, where many skirmishes during Indonesia's war of
independence in the late 1940s took place.
