Grenade found in garbage can

JAKARTA (JP): A hand grenade was discovered on Wednesday in a garbage can in front of the Plaza 89 building on Jl. H.R. Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Setiabudhi Police chief Asst. Supt. Bambang Sutrisno said.

The grenade was found at 7 a.m. by a janitor, Muhammad Jafar, who was cleaning the building, Bambang told The Jakarta Post by phone.

"But we don't know yet whether the grenade is still live or not," Bambang said, adding that it was being examined at the bomb squad headquarters in Kelapa Dua, South Jakarta.

The 12-story Plaza 89 building is mostly used as office space. (jaw)
