Grenade blast hits police post

BANDA ACEH, Aceh (JP): An unidentified armed gang threw grenades at a North Aceh police precinct at around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, leaving four officers wounded.

Capt. Mustofa Kamal of the North Aceh Police, identified the four policemen as Chief Corp. A. Rahman Husin, Pvt. Sugiarto, Pvt. Agus, First Sgt. Simon Purba.

Two motorbikes, one car and part of the office window were destroyed in the attack. The gang reportedly threw grenades from the west side of the office then fled into the woods.

Also in North Aceh, the bodies of three men were found on Sunday. Two were identified as Muzakir Yusuf, 25, who was shot in Baktya district and Zainal Abidin, 49, who was shot dead in Kuta Makmur district. The other man, whose bones were unearthed by the local Red Cross in Blang Mangat district, remains unidentified. (50/51/edt)
