Green SM Taxi Short-Circuits Before Bekasi Timur Train Accident Occurs

The driver of the Green SM electric online taxi is being examined by police following the accident involving the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and a KRL at Bekasi Timur station. Head of the Accident Data Collection, Processing, and Analysis Section of Korlantas Polri, Kompol Sandhi Wiedyanoe, stated that the driver has been secured and is being questioned at Polres Metro Bekasi Kota. “The driver has been secured at Polres Metro Bekasi Kota for further investigation by the Head of Traffic Police,” he told reporters at the scene on Tuesday (28/4). Sandhi explained that the incident began due to an electrical short-circuit in the electronic online taxi vehicle at the level crossing without barriers. He described how the short-circuited electric vehicle was then struck by a KRL from Cikarang towards Jakarta. As a result, he said, it disrupted the journey of other trains. “The accident involving the train and the electric vehicle was actually only material damage. However, it caused disruption to other train journeys, with the KRL waiting for the evacuation process,” he stated. Sandhi said that information about the train collision was allegedly not fully conveyed to the Argo Bromo Anggrek train. Meanwhile, he noted, the Argo Bromo Anggrek train was travelling at high speed of 110 kilometres per hour. “Due to the lack of information and coordination, a collision occurred at Bekasi Timur station, more precisely, resulting in several fatalities,” he explained. He added that officers are currently conducting an investigation using the Traffic Accident Analysis (TAA) method.
