Green SM taxi–KRL crash at Ampera level crossing tackled by Bekasi City Traffic Police

BEKASI, KOMPAS.com - The head of Traffic Police of Bekasi City Metro Police, Kompol Gefri Agitia, said that his unit is only handling the accident between the Green SM taxi and a KRL at the Ampera level crossing, in Duren Jaya, East Bekasi District, Bekasi City. Meanwhile, the handling of the incident involving a collision between the KRL and the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek at the Bekasi Timur Station yard is not within the remit of Satlantas Bekasi City Police. ‘For the taxi–train crash we have already named a suspect. But the KRL with a train at Bekasi Timur Station is not my authority (Satlantas),’ Gefri said when contacted via WhatsApp, on Thursday (21/5/2026). ‘So cases of trains with railcars and KRL with cars are different cases. So it cannot be treated as one case,’ he added. Gefri explained that incidents involving rail cars are handled by other parties, including the National Transport Safety Committee (KNKT). In the Jalan Ampera case, police have named the Green SM taxi driver Richard Rudolf Passelima as a suspect. Richard will face legal proceedings because he is deemed negligent, causing the taxi he was driving to stop abruptly or stall in the middle of the railway on track 1. ‘The cause of the KRL versus taxi crash is driver negligence,’ Gefri stated. Despite being named a suspect, Richard was not detained because the matter falls under a misdemeanor (tipiring). Richard is charged under Article 310 Paragraph (1) of Law No. 22 of 2009 on Traffic and Road Transport (LLAJ), which carries a maximum penalty of six months’ imprisonment or a Rp 1 million fine. Furthermore, the accident did not result in fatalities or injuries, so investigators decided not to detain the driver. ‘Investigators did not detain the Green SM taxi driver due to the absence of fatalities, minor injuries, serious injuries, or death,’ he said. Gefri explained that the accident began when the Green SM taxi, with plate B-2864-SBX, was travelling from Duren Jaya towards Jalan Juanda. While crossing the railway crossing, the taxi suddenly stopped abruptly or stalled in the middle of the railway line.
