“We express our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. We are paying close attention to this incident and hope that all involved parties recover quickly and remain safe,” the Green SM management stated, as quoted by Kompas.com on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
The company stated that it continues to coordinate with relevant authorities by providing relevant information to support the investigation process.
“Safety and transparency remain our top priorities. We are committed to maintaining strict operational standards to support the safety of drivers, passengers, and the public,” the statement continued.
In a previous statement, Green SM management mentioned that it has submitted the necessary information to the authorities and will continue to provide the latest updates as verified data becomes available.
The company also emphasised its commitment to maintaining safety standards through ongoing operational systems and supervision.
One KRL passenger, Munir, revealed that the train he was on from Jakarta to Cikarang had stopped at Bekasi Timur Station after a prior incident.
According to him, an oncoming KRL had collided with a green-coloured taxi at the crossing, which then disrupted the train journey.
It was during this stop that the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek, approaching from behind, rammed into the KRL carriages.
“Basically, it was hit from behind; the long-distance train’s driver’s carriage even penetrated the carriage,” Munir said.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) President Director, Bobby Rasyidin, also mentioned that the incident at the crossing is suspected to be one of the triggering factors in the chain of accidents.
Nevertheless, the exact cause of the KRL accident is still awaiting the results of the investigation by the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT).
