Green Policing at Pacu Jalur Arena, Riau Police Clean Up Rubbish Along Narosa Riverbank

Riau Regional Police have demonstrated their commitment to protecting the environment. Through the Green Policing programme, a number of personnel took part in a rubbish clean-up along the Pacu Jalur arena at Tepian Narosa, Teluk Kuantan, Kuantan Singingi Regency.

The activity was carried out as a form of the Indonesian National Police’s concern for environmental cleanliness, particularly in the Tepian Narosa area, which has become a hub of public activity during the Pacu Jalur event. Personnel from the Riau Police’s Directorate of Water and Air Police and the Directorate of Vital Object Security went directly to clean and collect rubbish along the arena on Friday (21/8/2026).

Riau Police Director of Vital Object Security, Senior Commissioner Suherman Zein, said that the Green Policing programme is part of the police’s effort to encourage the public to protect the environment together.

“Maintaining environmental cleanliness is our shared responsibility. Through Green Policing, we invite the public to care for the environment, starting with simple things such as not littering and keeping our surroundings clean,” said Senior Commissioner Suherman Zein.

According to him, the Tepian Narosa area is one of the public spaces heavily visited by the community during the Pacu Jalur event. Therefore, the cleanliness of the area needs to be a shared concern so that the public can enjoy the series of activities in a comfortable atmosphere.

“We hope this activity does not stop at cleaning up rubbish, but can also build public awareness to jointly maintain cleanliness. A clean environment will provide comfort for the community and is our shared responsibility,” he added.

This social clean-up is also part of efforts to build a culture of environmental awareness within the community. Police personnel are not only carrying out their duty to maintain security during the Pacu Jalur event, but are also present in maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability.

Riau Police are urging the entire community, especially Pacu Jalur visitors, to dispose of rubbish in the bins provided and not to leave litter along the arena or the riverbank.

With the spirit of Green Policing, it is hoped that the 2026 Pacu Jalur National Event will not only run safely and orderly, but will also maintain cleanliness and environmental sustainability in the Tepian Narosa area.
