Green House Palmerah set to supply raw materials for Polri's SPPG network
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Green House of the Police Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) Polri in Palmerah, West Jakarta, is projected to become a supplier of raw vegetable and fish materials for Polri’s SPPG network.
“So, other SPPG units that apply will also be supplied from here,” said Police Commissioner (Ret.) Ardanto Nugroho, Mid-Level Police Auditor III of the Internal Affairs Division of Polda Metro Jaya, during the vegetable and fish harvest event in Jakarta on Monday.
Polda Metro Jaya harvested around 80 kg of vegetables and 65 kg of fish, which will be used as raw materials for preparing free nutritious meals (MBG) at the Green House SPPG Palmerah.
Various types of vegetables, from pakcoy to mustard greens, were cultivated without pesticides for one month since seedling.
In addition, 560 fish ready for harvest will also serve as a protein source in MBG at SPPG Palmerah and other SPPG units managed by Polda Metro Jaya.
Ardanto said the Green House SPPG Palmerah currently has eight fish cultivation ponds, ranging from patin, tilapia to catfish.
“So, in one pond, we stock 3,000 seedlings. Over time, we carry out partial harvests to adjust the pond’s capacity with the fish’s growth,” he said.
Furthermore, Ardanto stated that, besides providing raw materials for MBG at SPPG, the vegetable and fish cultivation at Green House SPPG Palmerah is also aimed at supporting the food security programme.
“In principle, this is part of food security. Besides being a source of raw materials, it is also part of our concern to maintain the existing supply chain in the Palmerah SPPG environment,” he said.
Polda Metro Jaya is committed to making vegetable and fish cultivation at Green House SPPG Palmerah an effort for sustainable provision and wider to other SPPG units.
“This is the second cycle, which is currently intended for Palmerah SPPG. In the future, we have planned to supply for SPPG units of Polda Metro Jaya under the auspices of Yayasan Kemala Bhayangkari,” said Ardanto.
