Green Economy Seen as Key to Indonesia's Competitiveness

JAKARTA - The transformation towards a green economy is deemed necessary to be carried out in an integrated manner to strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness amid increasing global demands for sustainability. A cross-sectoral approach is also seen as one of the keys to accelerating this transformation, from public policy and business practices to technological innovation and talent development. This forms one of the focuses raised at the Indonesia Sustainability 360 Forum 2026, which will be held on 19-20 August 2026 in Jakarta. Amid rising demands for a green economy and global competitiveness, this approach is considered important so that sustainability transformation does not proceed in isolation. The organising committee of the Indonesia Sustainability 360 Forum states that sustainability transformation needs to be positioned as a cohesive and impactful national movement. The organising committee of this forum involves several parties, namely Olahkarsa, Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development, Biosirkular, SURBAND ID, and Inovasi Muda. The organisers state that the involvement of these various parties is carried out to ensure that the needs of sustainability transformation can be addressed comprehensively. Chairman of the Indonesia Sustainability 360 Forum 2026, Unggul Yoga Ananta, said that sustainability today is no longer just related to environmental issues, but also to business strategy and national competitiveness. “The Indonesia Sustainability 360 Forum 2026 is designed to provide a more comprehensive collaboration space, where business strategies, policies, innovation, talent, and sustainability actions can interconnect. Therefore, the forum will also feature Sustainability Career Connect, focused on talent development and career connections in the sustainability field. Not only that, discussions on corporate sustainability practices, circular economy, and sustainable city development will also be part of the focuses raised.
