Greater Bandung Region Hit by Rolling Blackouts, Businesses Disrupted

A number of areas in Greater Bandung experienced power outages from morning until midday on Wednesday (17/6/2026), leaving businesses unable to operate at full capacity. One affected location was a business premises on Jalan Naripan in Bandung City, which could not provide maximum service to customers due to the blackout. Information gathered indicated that power cuts also occurred in Bandung Regency and surrounding areas. Nurmalitasari, Manager of Communications for PLN’s West Java Distribution Unit, said the company is currently deploying all resources to maintain the reliability of the electricity system. This follows a technical operational issue at a power plant that caused a reduction in electricity supply capacity. “To maintain system stability and reliability, PLN is implementing limited load management in several affected areas and continues to strive for the acceleration of power plant operational recovery so that electricity supply can return to normal,” she stated.
