GREAT Scholarship opens applications for free Master’s studies in the United Kingdom in 2026. Indonesian nationals are among the participants eligible to apply for the scholarship.
The GREAT Scholarship is organised by the Government of the United Kingdom and the British Council. Students who are successful will receive a study allowance of £10,000 or equivalent to Rp 230 million for one academic year.
Senior Marketing Manager Study UK, SEA British Council Indonesia, Gitagowinda Avia Feiz explains that prospective recipients must already hold a passport from the destination country as a condition of application. In addition, bachelor’s degree holders must meet English language requirements demonstrated.
Gita says the GREAT Scholarship seeks academically competitive students. Therefore, applicants are also required to attach achievements or academic experiences relevant to the field of study to be pursued.
“Participants will be invited to express their motivation to study in the United Kingdom, how you will use your knowledge, and to demonstrate your future plans after completing your studies in the United Kingdom,” she said at an event in Central Jakarta on Thursday, 5 March 2026.
There are 12 universities in the United Kingdom affiliated with the GREAT Scholarship. One of them is Robert Gordon University, located in Aberdeen, Scotland. Regional Manager Robert Gordon University, Paul McBean, said the campus offers a range of disciplines available for Indonesian students to pursue master’s studies.
He stated that Business and Management, Engineering and Technology, Health, and Creative Industries are among the fields most sought after by Indonesian students in the United Kingdom. Robert Gordon University, he noted, is also regarded as one of the elite universities in the United Kingdom.
“Robert Gordon University is ranked in the top ten in the United Kingdom for the employability of its graduates,” Paul said.
He explained that graduates’ ability to access global industries and prestigious work environments is facilitated by the curriculum. He added that the teaching method at Robert Gordon University emphasises discussion and academic debate.
Applications can be made by visiting the university sites that host the GREAT Scholarship. The deadline for applications for the GREAT Scholarship closes on 21 July 2026. The deadline for the issuing of the study confirmation letter in the destination country ends on 7 August 2026. Participants who succeed in the applications will be contacted by the target university.
