Great River, Cerruti tie up

JAKARTA (JP): PT Great River International (GRI), a publicly- listed garment producer, yesterday secured a licensing agreement with Italy's Cerruti 1881 SA to produce garments designed by Nino Cerruti for export.

Before signing the agreement, Great River's president Sunjoto Tanudjaja said PT Inti Fashindo Internasional, a subsidiary of Great River, would produce and distribute the high-quality clothing for men and women under the Cerruti label through its network of 120 outlets in 12 Asian countries.

The agreement was also signed by Cerruti's vice president Aurelio Giorgini, who said Inti Fashindo was licensed to produce garments under the Cerruti 1881 trademark.

He said Cerruti would consider the possibility of establishing a joint venture with Great River to produce garments for export to the European Union and the United States.

Sunjoto said Great River, which has licensing agreements with several international brand-name companies, exports its products to 20 countries.

Great River's products include garments with the Oscar de la Renta, Studio Ferre, Arrow, Choya, Balenciaga, Triumph and Kenzo trademarks.

Sunjoto said his company expects a revenue of US$100 million per annum from the sales of Cerruti products.

Giorgini said Cerruti generates a sale revenue of about $350 million per annum in Asia. (02)
