Jakarta – The Director of Geopolitik at GREAT Institute, Teguh Santosa, has given full support to President Prabowo Subianto’s offer to mediate between Israel, the United States and Iran.

“It is unfortunate that US-Iran peace talks, which had reportedly made significant progress the day before, were suddenly derailed by Israeli attacks. This demonstrates that the Benjamin Netanyahu administration has other interests that damage regional peace and also endanger the safety of Israeli citizens themselves,” said Teguh Santosa in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

Teguh stated that peace negotiations must continue. New methods and approaches should be applied, including involving Indonesia as a mediator.

“Nothing is more valuable than regional peace and the safety of humanity worldwide. We appreciate President Prabowo’s willingness to invite us all to avoid immeasurable destruction,” he said.

Teguh also assessed that Iran’s retaliatory attack was an attempt to “equalise” standing, and this is legal as it is guaranteed under the UN Charter. After standing is equalised, he hopes for de-escalation, with conflicting parties willing to restart peace negotiations.

President Prabowo’s willingness to mediate to stop the mutual attacks between Israel, assisted by the United States, and Iran, was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the @Kemlu_RI X account.

“The Government of Indonesia, through the President of the Republic of Indonesia, conveys readiness to facilitate dialogue to create conducive security conditions and, should both parties agree, the President of Indonesia is prepared to depart to Tehran to conduct mediation,” wrote @Kemlu_RI.

For context, Israel suddenly attacked several civilian settlements in Iran in Tehran and Isfahan as well as other cities on Saturday morning, 28 February 2026. The office of Iran’s spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was among the facilities targeted in the attack.

Meanwhile, a girls’ dormitory in Isfahan was reported to have been destroyed, with dozens of female students killed thus far.

The Israeli attack occurred during the third round of US-Iran peace talks in Geneva, mediated by Oman.

Shortly after the attack, Iran launched a retaliatory strike using rights regulated under Article 51 of the UN Charter. In addition to Tel Aviv, Iran attacked US military bases in Gulf countries.
