Graves should be of standard shape
JAKARTA (JP): Sooner or later all graves and tombstones in Jakarta will have to be of a standard shape and size, chief of the Jakarta Cemetery Agency Syahriel Zaenuddin said yesterday.
He said this is part of efforts to wipe out the superstitious suggestions still prevailing among the public that cemeteries are haunted and fear inspiring.
Syahriel said that to create public cemeteries which are surrounded by greenery was not easy because it needed time and human resources.
He said all public cemeteries in the capital should be located in green areas and open spaces surrounded by well kept gardens and lawns.
"This is imperative because it will give visitors to cemeteries a feeling of peace and tranquility," Syahriel said. (bas)
