Graves in Karet to be relocated

JAKARTA (JP): The city administration will relocate 867 graves from the Karet Bivak cemetery to the Srengseng Sawah cemetery in South Jakarta between Aug. 7 and 25 to make way for the construction of an overpass.

H. Syafril Zainuddin, head of the City Cemetery Office, said graves in blocks 13, 14, 38, 40, 41, 69, 70, 91 and 106 and part of block 65 will be relocated.

Syafril urged the heirs of the graves to contact the Karet Bivak Cemetery Office by Aug. 7 to check on the relocation plan.

He said another 115 graves in Blok P cemetery in South Jakarta will be moved to the Srengseng Sawah cemetery from Aug. 7 to 10. They are also being moved to make way for a road project. (hhr)
