The grave of an employee of the Mojokert City District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari), identified by the initials RG (35), located in the Lengki Hamlet Public Cemetery, Suruh Village, Sukodono District, Sidoarjo, East Java, was exhumed by police officers on Friday (31/07/2026). This exhumation process was conducted approximately 40 days after burial to investigate the exact cause of the victim’s death.

The exhumation began at approximately 07:20 WIB, involving four local gravediggers. This legal step was taken after the family submitted an official request to the police due to suspicions regarding irregularities in the victim’s passing.

The Head of Lengki Hamlet, Ainul Rofiq, confirmed that the deceased was a native of Suruh Village, residing in the Griya Suruh Indah housing complex. Although the victim had been living in Mojokerto for the past one to one and a half years due to work commitments, their residency documents remained registered in Sidoarjo.

“The deceased was indeed a native of Suruh Village. This exhumation is being carried out as part of a police process following a request from the family. We, from the village authorities, are merely assisting with the necessary field requirements,” said Ainul at the cemetery site on Friday.

Ainul added that he did not know the specific details of the irregularities that prompted the family to request a re-autopsy, emphasising that the substance of the investigation falls entirely under the authority of law enforcement.

According to gathered information, RG served as a technical policy reviewer at the Mojokerto City District Prosecutor’s Office. Before being declared dead in mid-July, the victim had complained of gastric pain while at work and was rushed to Reksowaluyo Hospital in Mojokerto for medical treatment. The police are currently awaiting the results of forensic examinations and autopsies from medical experts to determine the primary cause of death and decide on further legal actions.
