Grave Desecrator in Brebes Apprehended, Revealed to Suffer from Mental Disorder
The perpetrator who desecrated the grave of Toniah (56) in Grinting Village, Bulakamba District, Brebes, has been identified. The culprit is a local man suffering from a mental disorder, known locally as ODGJ. Bulakamba Police Chief AKP Afandi explained that the grave desecrator is a man with the initials HP (33), a local resident. Based on initial examinations and statements from his family, the perpetrator is said to have a psychiatric condition. This is corroborated by a medical check-up control letter from the Psychiatric Clinic of Mitra Siaga Hospital in Tegal. “From the examination results and statements from his parents and residents, the person concerned is suspected to be a person with a mental disorder (ODGJ). This is also reinforced by the existence of a control examination letter from the Psychiatric Clinic of Mitra Siaga Hospital Tegal,” Afandi stated. After handling the case, the Bulakamba Police handed HP over to his family. Subsequently, the biological father, together with the Grinting Village Government, made a written statement pledging to look after, care for, and treat HP so that he does not commit acts that disturb the community again. “We handed the person concerned over to his family. The perpetrator’s parents have made a written statement containing a pledge to look after, care for, and treat their child so that he does not commit acts that could disturb the community again,” said Afandi. Grinting Village Head Suhartono explained that the excavated grave belonged to Toniah (56), a resident of Grinting Village. She passed away approximately two months ago. “The grave belongs to Toniah, who died two months ago. After visiting her family, there was nothing unusual until her grave was dug up by someone. She was just an ordinary person,” Suhartono detailed.
