JAKARTA: Grant Thornton International (GTI) denied on Monday its involvement in auditing PT Telkom, which was questioned by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the New York Stock Exchange.
In a press release, Grant Thornton clarified that "neither Grant Thornton International nor any of its member firms, including Grant Thornton LLP (United States) and Grant Thornton Hendrawinata (Indonesia), have been engaged to perform any procedures relating to the audit of Telkom and never had any responsibility for the audit of the company's consolidated financial statement for any period."
The release said that the audit in question was conducted by Eddy Pianto, an affiliate of a former GTI member in Indonesia.
GTI continued to be represented in Indonesia by Grant Thornton Hendrawinata (since 1993), who at no time had any involvement in the audit of Telkom, stated the release. --JP
