Grandmother dies after being run over by a trailer truck in Koja, North Jakarta

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A 70-year-old woman identified by the initials ZN died after being run over by a trailer truck on Jalan Raya Pelabuhan, Koja, North Jakarta, on Friday afternoon (6 March 2026). AKP Edy Wibowo, head of the Metro Jakarta North Traffic Negligence Unit, said the incident began when the victim was riding a pangkalan motorcycle taxi home from a treatment at Koja Hospital. ‘There has been a traffic accident involving a trailer truck with plate B 9083 FEH, driven by DA, and a Yamaha Mio motorcycle with plate B 6827 PPJ,’ Edy said in a official statement, quoted Saturday (7 March 2026). ‘Upon reaching Jalan Pelabuhan near Pos 9.A, the truck sideswiped the motorcycle ridden by ST, which was travelling in the same direction on its left side,’ he explained. The impact caused the motorcycle to lose balance and the victim fell under the left wheel of the truck. ‘As a result of the crash, the passenger (ZN) was crushed by the left rear wheel and died at the scene,’ Edy said. ‘The passenger ST sustained only minor abrasions to the leg and received outpatient treatment,’ he added. The body was taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) for autopsy. Police are currently questioning the truck driver and the ojek driver to determine the exact cause of the accident. ‘The exact cause is still under investigation by our team,’ he concluded.
