Grandmother and Grandchild Burn Victims in Bogor Shanty Fire Suffer 80% Burns
Two burn victims from a fire at a row of rental rooms in Tegalega, Bogor Tengah, Bogor City, are still receiving intensive care at RS PMI Bogor. The two patients are a grandmother, Ratna Julianti, and her granddaughter Saud Marpaung, both with burns covering 80 percent of the body.
‘Situation of the two patients in more detail: the grandmother, currently in the intensive care unit, has second-degree burns (grade 2) covering 80 percent of her body,’ said Dr. Firmansyah Abdi, Director of Medical Services at RS PMI, to reporters on Friday (6 March 2026).
‘Meanwhile, the patient who is a child, now treated in the Rose Ward, is under the care of a plastic surgery surgeon who will plan wound cleansing and dressing changes. The child will be treated more intensively in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU),’ he added.
The two burn victims are Ratna Julianti and her granddaughter Saud Marpaung. A third grandchild, Zaki, aged 1 year 4 months, died in the fire.
Dr. Firmansyah said the burns on Ratna Julianti are grade 2, requiring treatment in a hospital with more complete equipment. ‘With this condition, combined with a suspected airway trauma, the best care should be at a Type A hospital. Because there is no Type A hospital in Bogor, we have coordinated and are trying to arrange referrals to major hospitals in Jakarta, such as Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Universitas Indonesia Hospital (RS UI), or Persahabatan Hospital.’
Earlier reports stated that three rental units burned in Tegalega, Bogor Tengah; a baby aged 1 year 4 months died and two adults were injured. ‘The victims are three people, one is aged 1.4 years named Zaki, and the other two are adults with burns, who have been taken to PMI Hospital,’ said Bogor Tengah Police Chief Kompol Waluyo on Thursday night (5 March 2026). ‘The three victims are from one family. We are still checking for complete data,’ he added.
