Grandfather in West Lombok Arrested for Raping 11-Year-Old Girl
An elderly man with the initials N alias S (70) has been named a suspect in the rape of an 11-year-old girl in Kuripan District, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. The incident occurred on Sunday, 17 May 2026, at around 12.30 p.m. local time. The grandfather allegedly carried out the assault inside his home. After the incident, the victim immediately recounted what had happened to her family. Unwilling to accept the situation, the family subsequently reported the case to the West Lombok Police. Shortly after the report was filed, the elderly man was taken into custody at the West Lombok Police headquarters to prevent potential social conflict or mob justice in his neighbourhood. Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the West Lombok Police, First Inspector Heddy Permana Putra, stated that investigators had named N alias S as a suspect after obtaining sufficient evidence. “Based on the case review and the fulfilment of at least two pieces of evidence, the alleged perpetrator has now been officially named a suspect,” he said on Monday, 22 June 2026. Heddy explained that the suspect’s designation was based on witness statements, medical examination results, and testimony from a psychological expert who examined the victim’s condition. “We have obtained sufficient evidence, namely witness statements, a Visum et Repertum document from a doctor, testimony from a psychological expert who examined the victim’s mental state, and physical evidence in the form of the clothing worn by the victim at the time of the crime,” he clarified.
