Grandfather in East Manggarai Rapes Junior High School Student Four Times

A grandfather with the initials MM (65) repeatedly raped a junior high school student with the initials MAT (16) in Elar District, East Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara. The elderly man already has grandchildren. “Yes, the victim was raped four times,” said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Manggarai Police, Iptu Ahmad Zacky Shodri, on Friday (10/7/2026). MM raped MAT between 2024 and 2026. He gave the victim between Rp 50,000 and Rp 100,000 each time he assaulted her. The first rape occurred on 18 May 2024. The heinous act continued on 26 May 2025, 16 July 2025, and finally on 22 April 2026. The first rape began when MAT was looking for firewood in her parents’ garden, which is adjacent to MM’s garden. MM approached the teenager and expressed his feelings for her before asking her to have sexual intercourse. MAT was frightened and tried to run away, but her attempt failed because MM grabbed her hand. She tried to scream for help, but no one was around the garden at the time. “The victim tried to scream for help. However, there was no one around the garden,” Zacky explained. MM then coaxed MAT and promised her money in exchange for sex. When offered the money, the victim remained silent. MM then raped MAT. After satisfying his desires, MM gave the victim Rp 100,000. He told the victim not to tell anyone about his depraved act. “The victim tried to refuse the money. However, the perpetrator forced it into her hand,” Zacky said. The second rape occurred while the victim was on her way to the garden. The location was in the bushes, about 150 metres from the victim’s house. MM again gave her money after the rape. The subsequent rape also took place in a garden. MM used the same method, giving the victim money. The act was finally reported by the victim’s parents to the East Manggarai Police.
