Grandfather, Grandmother and Grandchild Perish in South Sulawesi House Fire

A house fire in Limboro Village, Limboro District, Polewali Mandar Regency, West Sulawesi, claimed the lives of three family members. The victims were identified as Mursalim (77), his wife Nurmala (80), and their grandchild Nurhalim (17).

According to Tinambung Police Chief AKP Ramli, the fire was first noticed by residents around 11:30 AM WITA when they saw smoke rising from the back of the house. The flames quickly spread and engulfed the wooden stilt house.

Witnesses reported that the homeowner, Mursalim, was initially in the yard but rushed back inside the burning building in an attempt to save his wife and grandchild. Firefighters deployed one unit to extinguish the blaze. Once the fire was under control, they discovered the bodies of Nurhalim and Nurmala. Mursalim was found in a critical condition in the bathroom and was rushed to hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries upon arrival.

Polewali Mandar Police Chief AKBP Zaky Maghfur stated that an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
